Welcome To The Home Of

Tae Kwon Do

Welcome to the Home of Tae Kwon Do, my site was created to provide you with information regarding the art of Tae Kwon Do.

As you will see when you navigate round my site I have tried to incorporate as much information about Tae Kwon Do, ranging from the history to the foot patterns. I have studied the Art of Tae Kwon Do for 08 Years and have obtained the level of black belt 1st Dan. I took up Tae Kwon Do in 1979 at the age of 14 years when I was in the Singapore Armed Forces Boys School (Cadet School).

Beside the academic studies, we would have military exercise incorporated into our curriculum that includes Tae Kwon Do twice a week.

Our Tae Kwon Do training would take place in a gymnasium, the size of a basketball court.

The 2 hours Tae kwon-Do sessions would always start will a 30 minute of warm up, this included various stretching exercises, push and sit ups, jumping.

Black BeltThis was usually followed by the practising of stances, punches and kick combinations. We would then have 10 minutes of meditation.

After the break, as instructed by our teacher we would face our partner, each person would then precede with attacking moves and in reply, the other would practise a defensive move.

We would continue combinations of attacking and defensive moves which again included kicks, blocks and punches.

Our instructor would then command us to carry out knuckle push ups on a concrete flood. When the instructor wanted to provide a punishment, we would have to do these push ups on our knuckles.

This was to show that who ever think’s that they can escape the reality of hard work was mistaken.

My instructor would always end the session with a further 10 more minutes of meditation.

In 1983, at the age of 18 years old, I was drafted to compulsory National service (army) in Singapore’s went through 3 months of grilling basic military training.

After that, I was selected for the Tae Kwon-Do Instructors training due to my past experience and was sent to the School of Physical Training for another 3 months of intensive course. Although I was delighted with the decision and was looking forward to the training, deep down inside me, I new I had got a pretty tough ride ahead of me.
